I was lucky enough to be invited along to the opening/launch of the new American Madness vintage store in East Belfast. What a night it was!
This event was right up my street as the majority of the clothes in my wardrobe are either:
A) From vintage stores
B) Clothes that my brother was going to throw out (thanks mate!)
What is American Madness?
American Madness originally opened in Belfast in 1981 before closing in 1998. Jon-Joe (son of the original store owner, John) decided to reinvent the brand. He has toured warehouses across the US to hand-pick unique vintage pieces to sell at the newly re-launched American Madness.
I must say that American Madness is one of the most Instagrammable shops that I’ve EVER been to. It’s literally a photo opportunity a minute. I couldn’t resist having my own mini photoshoot with the huge American flag outside.
The launch was a collaboration with Depop (and we all know how much I love to use Depop!) so I was delighted to have been invited to come along.
This is one of my favourite events I’ve been to lately. We had a great time looking through all the vintage clothing while David Holmes DJ’d in the background.
The vibe was really chilled out and there was no pressure to look or be a certain way – it was just a good time all round.
HOLY MOLY THE CLOTHES. I was invited down to preview the stock a week early and came away with a GREAT haul. That’s why I have different outfits in my photos – I didn’t do a costume change mid-event!
My favourite thing I bought was a vintage Adidas Regatta sweater (which you can see in the first photo of this post!) I love it because it’s an item you wouldn’t find anywhere else. I get tonnes of compliments each time I wear it – so 80’s!
If you’re into vintage clothes, especially rare pieces, this is the place for you.
Visit for yourself!
If you’re as excited by these vintage gems as I was, make sure to call in! You can find American Madness at 2A Lena Street, Belfast (very close to Connswater Shopping Centre). They’re only open on Saturdays but you can order from their online shop anytime you want.
I know I can’t wait to go back on payday for some of those great shirts!
I just want to say a huge thank you to the team at American Madness and Depop for inviting me to this event.
