There’s not a lot that I enjoy more than taking my time to put on my full-face of make-up. I use all the hacks I’m about to show you on a daily basis!
After all, why not make life easier for yourself?

Do Your Eye Make-Up First
I saw a beauty guru on YouTube doing this a few years ago and couldn’t believe that I hadn’t been doing my eye make-up first all along!
By applying your eye make-up first, it means you can wipe away any fall out from your eyeshadow without ruining your perfectly applied base. What a timesaver!
Use Scotch Tape to Perfect Your Winged Liner
I actually use the Scotch tape for both my eyeshadow and my eyeliner as it allows me to create a slick wing and a great shape for my shadows.
It doesn’t matter if you over-draw the eyeliner and it ends up on the tape as it will be removed anyway!
This one isn’t great for your skin as it is – so make sure that you use Scotch tape instead of Sellotape. It will be a bit kinder on your skin and easier to remove.
Use Nivea Men’s Post-Shave Balm As A Primer
This is a pretty well-known hack but I thought I’d share it anyway just in case!
Applying Nivea Mens Post-Shave Balm to your skin before your foundation creates a light tacky base. It allows your make-up to “stick” and last all day.
Best of all, it’s only £3.53 at Superdrug!
Use a Silicone Sponge Instead
This one I was super-sceptical about but believe it or not, it’s great!
Using a silicone sponge is a great way to save product – as it doesn’t get absorbed as it would with a regular sponge. It’s also really easy to clean, just run it under some warm water and it’s as good as new.
The one is use is by Revolution Beauty.
Make Your Matte Eyeshadow Pop
Before I apply my matte eyeshadow – I apply a base over my eye primer. I know this seems a bit excessive, but trust me on this one!
Apply your eyeshadow primer as usual (I love Primer Potion by Urban Decay) and then apply a layer of the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in the shade “Milk”. This will save you from doubling up on product to make your eyeshadow look stand out!
Make Your Glitter Eyeshadow Pop
Before you apply your glitter eyeshadow – spray your packing brush with setting spray. As well as making the colour pop, the moisture mixed with the product helps it to stay on longer AND minimise fallout aka WASTED PRODUCT and a real pain in the ass.
You. Are. Welcome.
The “Back to MAC” Programme
This one is for the high-end beauty lovers!
All you have to do is return six empty product packages to your local MAC counter or to the MAC website. Then you get a free lipstick as a thank you for recycling.
You’re giving back to the environment AND getting a free lipstick – what’s not to love?!
Rescue Your Dried Out Mascara (as long as it’s still in date!)
You can rejuvenate a dried-out mascara by placing it in a mug of boiling water for 5 minutes.
Don’t forget that all mascara should be replaced within 6 months – so don’t try and rescue something you bought 3 years ago. Not only will it not work, it’s really unhygienic and bad for your eyes too!
Let me know if you try any of these hacks and they work for you OR if you have any hacks of your own that I haven’t mentioned – I’d LOVE to hear them!
