We’ve all been there. Since Amy and I moved in together, I’ve found that I get really bored when I’m home on my own. I used to love my own company but now I’m used to always having someone else around. Nowadays when she’s not here I get very restless very quickly.
Quite often we find ourselves staying home because we’re trying to save money, or because we’re too tired to go out. But staying in doesn’t have to be boring. These are my 5 favourite things to do to keep myself entertained at home!
Discover Some New Music
I love using Spotify to find new songs, bands and artists. One of my favourite ways to do this on Spotify is through my Daily Mixes. Spotify automatically creates new playlists for you based on the different styles of music you regularly listen to. Each mix is full of the artists you love to listen to, plus a few new discoveries that fit the genre too! I have a pop mix, an indie mix, a musical theatre mix and
As your music taste evolves, so does your Daily Mix. The first few times I listened to my pop mix I was a bit disappointed, but the more you listen to Spotify, the more the mixes are tailored to your taste.
Start a New TV Series
If you’ve got a bit more time to spare, why not start a new TV series? This one is particularly good if you’re trying to make staying in a more regular thing – as you can space out the episodes. I’ve already written a post including some of my favourite shows to binge on Netflix which you can read below:
We’ve recently finished watching Safe – which is an 8-part series about a teenager who goes missing and her dad’s quest to find her. It’s full of twists and turns. Just when you think you know what’s happening, there’s a plot twist that totally changes the game. Highly recommend it – if you’ve already watched it, let me know your thoughts in the comments section!
Declutter Your Wardrobe
Take an evening and completely de-clutter your wardrobe. Having a clutter-free living space is one of the nicest feelings ever – you’d be surprised how much more chilled you’ll feel when you’re not surrounded by mess.
If an item has been sitting in your wardrobe for a year unworn. – it’s time to get rid. Donate your unwanted clothes etc to a charity shop – or do what we did and download the Depop app. Depop is a great way to make some extra cash and it’s a lot of fun too!
Find out more about Depop below.
If selling online isn’t your thing – why not set up a stall at your local flea market. We’re actually having our own stall in the Belfast Flea Market at the Sunflower Bar on 8th July 2018 – so if you’re around in the Belfast area, come visit us and buy our things!
Read a Book
Tv and the Internet are great inventions – they really are but sometimes you just can’t beat a good book. I keep track of all the books I’ve read/am currently reading using the Goodreads app on my phone. Reading is also a really good way to unwind before bed.
Do Something You’ve Alway Wanted to Do But Have Been Putting Off
We’re all guilty of saying “I’d love to do ______ but I just don’t have time.” Well my friend, right NOW is your time. After all, this is how Megan Says was born. I had been thinking about and talking about starting a blog for such a long time before I actually bit the bullet and created my site. Creating my blog was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself – and your new hobby could be too. What are you waiting for?!
What are your favourite ways to spend a night in at home? Let me know in the comments below – I can’t wait to hear your suggestions.
