Festive Prosecco Afternoon Tea at the MalMaison Hotel, Belfast

Festive prosecco afternoon tea

I bought Amy vouchers for afternoon tea at the MalMaison Hotel in Belfast for passing the first year of her PHD. We finally got the chance to use them at the weekend.

When we arrived at the MalMaison we were told that we would be eating from their festive afternoon tea menu instead of the regular one, which was a lovely surprise.

The Hotel

As soon as we walked in we saw this gorgeous Christmas tree at the entrance. The whole hotel is completely decked out for Christmas and I actually felt festive for the first time this year! The staff at the MalMaison were really friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

The Food

The amount of food was got was insane – but of course, we completely cleared our plates. We got:

  • A glass of Prosecco each
  • Fruit Scones with Jam and Cream (the scones tasted of cinnamon – they were to die for!)
  • Turkey, cranberry and stuffing wraps
  • Mal Sliders (two mini burgers)
  • Pigs In Blankets served in a Brioche roll
  • Christmas fruit cake
  • Mini Mince Pies
  • Two Christmas gingerbread men
  • Chocolate Yule Log
  • Sherry Trifle
  • Two big pots of tea – there were so many different types of tea to choose from. I went for Darjeeling – but you name it, and it was on the list!

I’m not usually a huge fan of Christmas cake or mince pies but I really enjoyed them here. I think that’s testament to how good the food is at the MalMaison.

Overall

The price for two people was £50.00. I think it was worth the money especially when you consider the quality of the food along with the quality of the service. Whilst it’s not something we’ll be doing every weekend, it’s perfect for an indulgent treat. I would definitely recommend the MalMaison for afternoon tea, especially if you can get yourself booked in before the end of December to try their festive menu! You can book your experience here.

If you’re not based in Northern Ireland, don’t worry, MalMaison have a number of hotels across the UK! They have hotels in: Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Brighton, Cheltenham, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Oxford and Reading. So hopefully you’ll be able to find one near you.
